How About Some
Good News Before The Holidays?

Attorney Tara K. Frame

The holidays are less than 100 days away! If you’re like me, this year has been a whirlwind. We have enjoyed taking a little detour from the headlines this year and in this edition we continue to focus on some good things that are happening all around us.
First, we’ll introduce you to two of our team members who contribute to our culture of camaraderie. Next, I share a recent event I am proud to support for suicide prevention. We also provide a hand out you can use to participate in the Workplace Kindness Challenge. And, to round out October, we share some Halloween Safety Tips.
We provide legal advice every day and we hear a lot of great questions! So, in this edition, we also share some recent articles and resources that answer the most common questions.
Don’t forget that estate planning can be a great gift for family members. Whether they need a simple will, powers of attorney, or a more complex estate plan, we can help! We are proud to serve as your family’s legal advisor for thoughtful planning and during times of crisis. Please let us know if we can help you and your family!

Spotlight on Our Team

Veronica Zoberbier is an Estate Planning & Elder Law Attorney and a proud member of the Maryland State Bar Association. Prior to joining Frame & Frame, she was a Washington, D.C. Prosecutor and a Frederick County Maryland Assistant States Attorney. However, she feels this area of law has been more of a calling than a job. Veronica also enjoys simplifying the legal process and putting a plan in place that sets her clients at ease.
Veronica reflects on her role at the firm, “It is gratifying to make a difference in someone’s life, especially during a difficult time. Many people put off estate planning until they are in their golden years but that can leave our loved ones unprepared for the difficulties and expenses that occur, during a crisis. Young families with children especially need to have a plan to raise their kids if something should happen to them. We help take the weight off our client’s shoulders by the time they leave our office. That is truly rewarding.”
In her personal life, she enjoys family time with her husband and daughter. She’s passionate about photography and loves to travel, especially with her fur baby, a golden retriever named Lucky!

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]ColleenColleen Lewis is a Paralegal with Frame & Frame. Colleen was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Having an extensive background with customer advocacy, she felt a calling to pursue an education in the legal field and decided to pursue her degree in Paralegal Studies. She attended the Anne Arundel Community College Paralegal Studies Program (approved by the American Bar Association) and graduated in 2015 as a Certified Paralegal. Colleen currently manages and assists the attorneys with Probate, Family Law, and Guardianship matters. On the weekends, she enjoys playing board games and video games with her fiancé, spending time with her friends and family, and visiting her local coffee and board game shop in Annapolis.

Walking for Suicide Prevention

As part of our commitment to give back to the community, Tara Frame along with her colleagues at Thrive Arundel, walked to show support for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. This small group of local professionals also raised over $1800 for the cause. Way to go!

Kindness at Work

All year long, we’ve been promoting kindness through the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.
This month, we provide a link to download the Workplace Kindness Challenge. It’s fun and easy to encourage a kinder, more compassionate environment.
Kindness and compassion are concepts we truly believe in and we hope you will enjoy the challenge, reading some of the stories and, perhaps, finding inspiration to carry this theme throughout the year!

COMMON MYTHS ABOUT ESTATE PLANNING

  1. It’s expensive.
  2. I can do it myself online.
  3. Estate planning is the same as long term care planning.
  4. I’m not wealthy enough to need an estate plan.
  5. The plan I did a few years ago is still good.

Be Safe Out There This Halloween

According to Safe Kids Worldwide, the risk of kids being hit by a car is higher on Halloween than on any other day of the year. So make sure all kids:
  • walk on sidewalks on lit streets (never through alleys or across lawns)
  • walk from house to house (never run) and always walk facing traffic when walking on roads
  • cross the street at crosswalks and never assume that vehicles will stop
  • have flashlights with fresh batteries. Kids may also enjoy wearing glow sticks as bracelets or necklaces.
  • only visit homes in your neighborhood and/or the homes of people you know.
When kids get home:
  • Help them check all treats to make sure they’re sealed. Throw out candy with torn packages or holes in the packages, spoiled items, and any homemade treats that weren’t made by someone you know.
  • Don’t let young children have hard candy or gum that could cause choking.
